Alexis Hollie-Sims Program
Alexis Hollie-Sims was born February 02, 1995 in Fort Worth, TX to both Yolanda Hollie and Michael Sims. Bringing the family more joy than, Alexis was baptized at New Bethel Completing Christ by Michael J. Moore. Alexis attended S.S. Dillow Elementary School and found a love for academics immediately, after completing elementary school she went on to attend Dunbar Middle school. There she took to advanced placement courses and found a passion for band and leadership while participating in JCC. Excelling in her academics led Alexis to be placed in the Advanced Placement program while attending Dunbar High school where she would complete in a matter of three years, while also participating in marching band as section leader and graduating as salutatorian for class of 2012. Once completing High school Alexis went on to further her education at Texas A&M University. Alexis wasn’t a person who was to shy away from hard work, but instead she learned to do what she loved which was talking and assisting people. Alexis worked for Wells Fargo in customer service for two years until she was able to find other places more worthy of her talents, in which she did and began later working for Cigna Health Insurance for two years and lastly United Health Care also doing customer service. Alexis had always had a passion for make-up and hair starting at a young age. Changing her look was nothing that she was new too, she thrived off being unique and always made sure that her looks and her fits were “ALWAYS ON POINT”. Alexis loved life and enjoyed a good laugh, being around her family she was able to get all of that and more. Being the only girl in the midst of one brother and three boy cousins she acted like their mother at times. Very tough but yet sweet, one to always be a listening ear for them, giving them advice and constructive criticism and most importantly love at the same time. Alexis was the “JUST” of the family, meaning exactly that. She always made sure that she kept it real with you but made sure to do it with a smile. If lex was to see you in a bad mood or space she would indeed tell you to “get yourself together, smile its not that bad”.“ I said what I said” would often be her remark when she corrected anyone. Alexis and her mom had a very special bond, being that she was the first born and only girl there was an unbreakable bond. Mother and daughter trips, shopping dates, dinners and lunches was something that they enjoyed doing together. She would often change roles with her mom when they did trips telling her “mom you’ve worked hard let me watch you, you have fun!”. The love that Alexis had for her brother was something indescribable, she was always one to see his potential and push him to be his best. Encouraging him was something that she prided herself in doing, her eyes would simply light up just from seeing him especially when she would call him “Boobie Doobie”. Alexis bond with her Father, was a funny love filled relationship. She would always correct him when spelling her name, he would spell it “Alexus”. She would ask him “why you give me this big head and my eyebrows connect”. Or she would say “OMG, I look just like him, my name should’ve been Michelle. The love that was there was something that only the two of them shared. On May 18, 2020 Alexis was blessed with finding true love in the form of Trenton Amyrson Jr. The love that was shared was between the two, were beyond words. Having fun, snapping pictures, dressing alike and being each others joy was something that you could always see. Which led to their engagement November 03, 2020 Alexis was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at age 25. Alexis fought a good fight, a strong fight, some would say that they wouldn’t have known she was even sick. She wore it well, from chemo to radiation. Always wearing a smile on her face through all the pain. On March 24, 2022, Alexis was given only days to live, she was brought home so she could be surrounded by family and friends. March 25, 2022, Alexis Dainelle Hollie-Sims took her last breathe at 1:45pm indeed surrounded by family, loved ones and friends. Alexis leaves to cherish her precious memories: mother Yalonda Hollie; father, Michael Sims; brother Elijah; fiancé, Trenton Amyrson Jr. McCutcheon; god-sister, Demi Johnson; grandmother, Cubie Hollie; grandmother, Francen Sims; grandfather, Norris Sims Sr.; aunt, Jackie Hollie-Bell (Steve Bell); uncles, Ken Hollie and Norris Sims Jr.; and a host of cousins, great aunts, great uncles, family and friends.
