I can ’ t believe that you are not here, I am so emotional I can ’ t cry my last tear, I just seen you not too long ago, You were feeling fine, I didn ’ t know …. that that was going to be our last time, I won ’ t lie this go around I ’ m not doing fine, I wasn ’ t there in person to say good - bye, So the tears are flowing all I do is cry, Yes you prepared me for this painful day, So I credit you for this, that ’ s all I can say, You got your house in order, paid all your bills, You actually was prepared, how does that feel, God had you here to share wisdom and joy, You made a huge impact to every girl and boy, They got to know you, can ’ t forget the grownups, You poured into and help fill our cups, You showed me how to let God give me a man,

You witnessed God moving as Fela asked you for my hand, You saw your children happy and the lives we will live, You ’ ve done all you could do, you love to pray, laugh, and give, Your examples taught Pete how to be a Good Man, Your work ethic taught VV that success starts with a plan, You loved your grandson and was truly proud, Anything that Seattle would do you would cheer very loud, Thank you for accepting me as being a preacher, I learned from many, but you were my favorite teacher, You were the best coach I ever had, You taught me how to hit home runs and I was glad, Oh daddy I could write all day because all of this true, Enjoy momma again and remember your Babygirl will always LOVE YOU!

Burl Hampton Jr. entered this life on December 31,1947 in Buckner, Arkansas to the union of Burl Hampton, Sr. and Elmira Hampton. He was the last of seven children born to this union.

He graduated from Ellis High School in Buckner, Arkansas. He also attended University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff after high school.

Burl Jr. was united in marriage to the late Zelinda K. Hampton on December 23, 1969. To this union, three children were born, eldest bundle of joy Vernard, one and only daughter, RaShona, and the youngest apple of their eye, Burl III. Finally, Burl Jr. is grandfather to his only grandchild, grandson, Seattle. They were united in marriage until Zelinda ’ s passing in 2015. Burl Jr. was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at the start of their union and later a member at the Christian Learning Center under the direction of the late, Joe Walker, Sr. He was Chairman of the Deacon board and Sunday School Superintendent. He also served as President over the Far Greater Northside for over twenty years in the community he so dearly loved. He was also a supervisor for Volkswagen and Acme Brick until he retired. Burl Jr. ’ s journey ended on this side of heaven, Thursday, January 11, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife, Zelinda Kaye, his parents, Burl Sr. and Elmira Hampton, brothers, Roy, Bobby Joe, and Raymond Sr. and sister, Dorethy. His memory will forever live on and be cherished by those he leaves behind. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Vernard Hampton of Fort Worth, TX, RaShona Best (Fela) of Houston, TX., and Burl Hampton III (Pamela) of Fort Worth, TX, his grandson, Seattle Hampton of Marble Falls, TX, two sisters, Norma Jean Isaac and Betty Ann Lusk of Fort Worth, TX along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
