On March 31, 1963, Darlis Wynel Sloan made her debut to the parentage of Ms. Vivian Louise Sloan and Mr. Frank Briscoe Sloan II in Dallas, TX to complete the first generation of this union. Darlis received her public education in the Dallas public school system and went on to continue her studies to become a Certified Nurse's Aide as well as a Dental Assistant. Darlis was the light in dark places and often the life of the party with her larger-than-life personality. Her laugh was infectious and she could effortlessly make anyone laugh, both intentionally and unintentionally. Everyone that knew her would agree that she never met a stranger. Two of her favorite things to do were cooking and cooking for others which she was both good and generous at doing. Darlis loved food! Darlis also loved people. Related or not. She then came to love God. Becoming committed to follow Jesus Christ daily, Darlis dedicated her life and faithfully attended Life Changing Ministry of Deliverance under the leadership of Bishop Michael Dukes Sr. Her belief in and love for God is what carried her into her final resting place of peace in His arms, which she so greatly deserved. Darlis will be missed beyond words by anyone that ever had the pleasure of her company. Her beautiful smile, her boisterous voice, and kind heart were only pieces of what made her the joy we all appreciated and aim to be in this life. The sun dimmed slightly the day she left Earth and Heaven laughed a little harder when she entered. Darlis was preceded in death by her father Frank Briscoe Sloan, II; mother Vivian Louise Sloan, daughter Deanna Sloan-Brown; granddaughters Leila & Kaleya Sloan, sister Gail Sloan; and brother Michael Sloan. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Tyenesha Sloan and Stanovyah "Stoney" Sloan; son-in-law, Melvin Brown; four sisters, Regina Sloan, Cheryl Rolen (husband Reginald Rolen), Christina Roche (husband Jose Roche), and Elizabeth Sloan; three brothers, James "Ronnie" Sloan (wife Robbie Sloan), Darrell Jackson (wife Denise Jackson), and Frank "Squeaky" Briscoe Sloan, III; step mother, Joyce Sloan; sister-in-law Sonjia Sloan (husband Michael Sloan); 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
