Donald R. Benjamin was born on February 9, 1943 in Dallas, Tx to Joe Benjamin and Mary Rogers. Don was employed at Temple Emmanuel in Dallas, TX. Don was known by his friends as “Neckbone”. Neckbone volunteered at Wolf Lake Farm Wednesday and Sundays where he loved to mow the lawn, pull the weeds, trim the trees and feed the cows and donkeys. You could find Neckbone enjoying some of his favorite foods from McDonald’s like hotcakes, sausage and coffee. Popeyes drumsticks, coleslaw and sweet tea and other times he would be enjoying a corn dog from Sonic. He was a charismatic, caring man who will be best known for his sayings. “What’s kicking my chicken Not a thang chick wang.” “Neckbone and a plate of rice is mighty nice.” “Get your hat and scat.” “Toodaloo, my little lovely Buckaroo.” “Be safe, be kind, be blessed, and also be yourself.” Don “Neckbone” leaves behind to mourn his passing his children Cheryl Turner, Pamela Benjamin Abney, Sherrie Benjamin, Terry Benjamin, Patrick Henderson, Raymond Williams, Betty Benjamin, and Fredrick Henderson, nephews; Anthony Benjamin Davis, Jody Walker, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Don Benjamin will be greatly missed by all that new him.
