Eva Mae Lee Program

Eva Mae Lee was born August 26, 1937 to Johnny Wright and Sweetie Starr in Garland, TX. Eva attended George Washington Carver High School in Garland, TX. Eva accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Bonnie View Christian Church for many years where she served as an Active Member Membership Group ensuring that members remained active in the church and helping out wherever she was needed. Eva moved to Dallas in the 1950’s and launched her career at Texas Instruments and Lakewood Country Club. Eva had a zest for life and enjoyed helping women look their best. With this spirit, she went into self-employment and became affectionately known as “The Hat Lady”. She owned her own business, Lee’s Hats, which was located in the Camp Wisdom-Polk Shopping Center. She carried some of the most beautiful hats in the metroplex in her shop and women would travel from afar to purchase her hats. She absolutely loved adorning women with hats and traveled to various church conventions showcasing her products. Eva was a loving wife to James Edward Lee for over 60 years and remained faithful to him until her death. Eva was mother to five children who she loved and adored unconditionally. Her grandbabies were her heart and she loved spoiling them. Family was everything to Eva and she especially found great joy in spending time with her husband, sisters and grandchildren. Eva leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband of over 60 years, James Edward Lee; one daughter, Lynetta Albright; three sons, Rickey Lockett, Ladarin Lee and Darrin Lee (Marilyn); four grandchildren, Lawanda Lee who she adopted as her daughter, Demetris Dean, Iriq Albright and Delisha Martin (Alcus Miskell); one great grandchild, Treyvon Britt; two sisters, Jenell Wright and Shirley Wright Buffington; one brother, Eugene Wright (Vanessa); one sister in-law, Deloris Wright; three brothers-in-law, Jessie Lee Jr, (Eddy), Curtis Lee (Thelma) and Rafael Lee (Thundra); three bonus grandchildren, Ashanti Williams, Ryan Carter and Isaiah Talton; and a host of nieces, nephews, a special nephew, Dwight Booker, relatives and friends. Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Wright and Sweetie Starr; three brothers, Raymond Wright, John Wright Jr. and Randy Wright; one sister, Mary Frances Taylor; and one son, Ira Albright.
