Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a floral piece, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you prayed a sincere prayer or came to pay a call. Perhaps you sang a cheerful song, if so, we heard it all. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you prepared a tasty dish, or maybe furnished a car. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, near at hand or from afar. Whatever you did to console our hearts, by word or deed or touch. Whatever was the kindly part, We thank you, oh so very much. You have freshened our desert with flowers and rain. You have come in the sadness of winter and gloom, and sung of the gladness of summer and bloom, and so in our grief, we fervently cry. God bless you friends for just standing by.
Thanks to each of you

Life Reflections Evelyn L. Walker was born to William Gilmore and Bessie Mayes, (both preceded her in death), in Dallas, Texas on May 20, 1946. She is predeceased by her husband, Will Walker Sr. (Homer, LA); two sons Victor Gilmore and Vincent Gilmore; two siblings Debra Hollis and Alfonso Loyd Jr. Evelyn is survived by two sons; Antonio Gilmore of Waco, Tx and Will Walker Jr. (Jonchea) of Houston, Tx. Two sisters; Patricia Gilmore and Rosalind Loyd. Eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, seven nephews, one niece, and paramour Raymond Nicholas. From a young age, Evelyn ’ s passion was cooking and she was blessed to do this thing she loved for a living. She was employed with Dallas Independent School District in Food & Child Nutrition Services in every capacity concluding her tenue as a manager. Evelyn was so highly skilled in her position, she begin to train/ mentor other managers. She was also the go to person for the opening of new schools and upgrading of failing schools. Evelyn was able to display these talents until her retirement after 38 years of service. Evelyn was known for her great smile, honesty, and friendliness. She had a great way of connecting with people, so she never met a “ stranger ” as every individual connected with her in some way. She was a true matriarch, as family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors sought out her guidance through life challenges. Evelyn ’ s home, neighbors, and yard/plants were very important to her. Her home was her castle with no wall untouched; her neighbors were extended family who relied on each other, and her yard/plants were her “ other ” babies. Evelyn was an amazingly strong and resilient individual. Although she endured many major crisis within her 78 years of life, she chose to focus on the brighter days after. That brighter day usually included a conversation, good music, and a great meal to follow.
