‘I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefor that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again’ As we celebrate the life and legacy of Flora Mae Flowers, we pause to reflect on some very cherished memories. Flora was one of ten children born to the parentage of the late Rosie and Jim Pless of Troy, Alabama. During her early childhood she attended Troy Independent School District. She later moved to Panama City Beach Florida. Upon her moved to Panama City Beach Florida she met and married her sweet heart and soulmate her husband Percy Lee Flowers in 1959. They moved to Dallas, TX., where he preceded her in death in 1990. During that time she worked in the Wilmer Hutchins Schools District for thirty plus years until she retired. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savor. She started her membership with Faithful Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor H.L. Williams. She was a faithful member and the Mother of the Faithful Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor N. C. Sargent until she transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Flora was also, preceded in death by her siblings Kate, Rena, Jimmy Lee, Tommy Lee, Willie Ben, Willie Hurd, Lucy Vee, Willie Jr. and Ruby Louis; son Leon Fuller; grandchildren Felecia Nelson, Deshawn Fuller and Kylain Lovings; great grandchild Sharmarra Lovings. Among the many family members who will continue to cherish Flora’s precious memories are her daughters Mary Lovings Cartridge, Glinda Jones and son Ricky Lee Flowers all of Dallas, TX. Flora was very proud of her grandchildren Ronda Pless, Angelia Lovings, Tyrone Pless, Corenda Lovings (Charles), Yzette Edmonson (Walter), Merl Lovings (Reshena), Charvin Moore and Dana Hampton; great-grandchildren Camela Pless, Charles Pless, Sharecka Hutchison (Phil), Terrell Nelson, Antonio Lovings (Michelle), Marlon Pless, Mason Wade (DeShun), Alexander Fuller, DeSara Fuller, Javin Jordan, Joshua Pless, Erroll & Danasia Hampton, MaKinley Proctor (Her dancing baby); 27 great-great-grandchildren. A special niece Helen Pless. Extended children Ree and Jeffrey Henderson. Special extended family Mary McCowan & Family; Pastor N.C. & First Lady Toi Sargent; Pastor Byron & First Lady Yolanda Hanspard & Family and Johnny & Nancy Jackson. There are a host of nieces, nephews, church families, relatives and friends, who will also continue to share and recall fond memories of Flora Flowers.
