L IFE R EFLECTIONS OF G WENDOLYN Gwendolyn Denetrice Loud was born on September 24,1946 in Dallas, Texas. Her parents Melvin George Loud and Bessie Mae Mathis Loud, was very proud of their sweet little baby daughter! Gwendolyn received her elementary and high school education from Catholic Schools in Dallas. Upon graduation, she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government/Political Science. Following her employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston, she re - located back to Dallas, Texas and continued her membership with St. Luke Community United Methodist Church. In June, 1978, Cornell Vaughn, Sr. and Gwendolyn D. Loud consummated their relationship in marriage. To this union, their only child, Cornell Vaughn, Jr. (affectionately called C.J.) was born. Following C.J.’s maturation through primary and secondary education, he also graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Art’s Degree. Gwendolyn sincerely loved to sing. During her formative and later of membership at St. Luke Community United Methodist Church, she was a faithful participant in the Church choir. Excerpts from Psalm 100 and 101 from the King James Version of the Bible encourage us to “ make a joyful noise unto the LORD and sing of the mercy and judgments of the LORD.” The gifted and melodious singing voice of Gwendolyn Vaughn was consistently demonstrated as she rendered “singing services” to the LORD in the Church choir as well as in other musical/ solo events until her health began to decline. On June 12, 2022, Gwendolyn Loud Vaughn’s destiny here on earth was achieved. She relinquished the earthly challenges of sickness, discomfort, pain, suffering, and life; departed from her earthly travel of 75 years, and entered into Eternal rest. To my family and friends: Speak of me as you have always done.

Remember the good times, the laughter and fun. Share the happy memories that we have made, Don’t let the precious memories whither or fade. I will always be with you in the summer’s sun I will also be with you when the winter’s chill come. I will be the voice that whispers in the breeze I am peaceful now, so put your mind at ease. I have rested my eyes and gone to sleep, But the treasured memories are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test, But remember me when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same Please don’t be afraid to use my name. Let your sorrow last for just a little while, Always comfort each other, and try to smile. I have lived a life filled with joy and fun. I want you to live on now, and make me proud of what you will become.

Dear Gwen: Little did we know that day, That God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, In death we will do the same, It broke our hearts to lose you, You did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us treasured memories, Your love is still our guide And though we cannot see you, You will always be by our side. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same But as God calls us one by one The chain will link again.

When tomorrow starts without you mother And you are not here to see If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me I wish you would not cry The way you did today While thinking of the many things We did not get to say I know how much you love me As much as I love you Each time that I think of you dear mother I know you will miss me too So when tomorrow starts without you mother Do not think that we are apart For every time that you think of me Remember that I’m right here in your heart.

The family of Gwendolyn Loud Vaughn acknowledge with grateful appreciation and sincere “special thanks” to Senior Pastor, Richie Butler, Pastor Sharon Larkin and members of St. Luke Community United Methodist Church and to all friends, neighbors and associates for your prayers, cards, food and all expressions of condolence, sympathy and love extended to us as we continue to experience the loss of Gwen. We will forever be grateful to each of you. May God abundantly bless you. ~THE FAMILY ~ A CTIVE P ALLBEARERS Solomon WyaƩ | Gerald Mathis | Nathaniel Caraway Glenn E.
