L IFE R EFLECTIONS OF G WENDOLYN Gwendolyn Denetrice Loud was born on September 24,1946 in Dallas, Texas. Her parents Melvin George Loud and Bessie Mae Mathis Loud, was very proud of their sweet little baby daughter! Gwendolyn received her elementary and high school education from Catholic Schools in Dallas. Upon graduation, she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government/Political Science. Following her employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston, she re - located back to Dallas, Texas and continued her membership with St. Luke Community United Methodist Church. In June, 1978, Cornell Vaughn, Sr. and Gwendolyn D. Loud consummated their relationship in marriage. To this union, their only child, Cornell Vaughn, Jr. (affectionately called C.J.) was born. Following C.J.’s maturation through primary and secondary education, he also graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Art’s Degree. Gwendolyn sincerely loved to sing. During her formative and later of membership at St. Luke Community United Methodist Church, she was a faithful participant in the Church choir. Excerpts from Psalm 100 and 101 from the King James Version of the Bible encourage us to “ make a joyful noise unto the LORD and sing of the mercy and judgments of the LORD.” The gifted and melodious singing voice of Gwendolyn Vaughn was consistently demonstrated as she rendered “singing services” to the LORD in the Church choir as well as in other musical/ solo events until her health began to decline. On June 12, 2022, Gwendolyn Loud Vaughn’s destiny here on earth was achieved. She relinquished the earthly challenges of sickness, discomfort, pain, suffering, and life; departed from her earthly travel of 75 years, and entered into Eternal rest. Some of her family members who preceded her in death are her parents Melvin G. and Bessie Loud; aunt Essie Randle; uncle Curtis Mathis, Jr., uncle Paul L. Vaughn, uncle Lee Mathis, uncle O.B. Mathis, aunt Velma White and uncle Bennie (B. A.) and aunt Ida V. Loud. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her son, Cornell Vaughn, Jr. (C.J), very devoted and gracious cousins, Dwaine Caraway (Barbara) and Karen Jones , aunt, Mattie Mathis Caraway, (Dallas), aunt, Dovie Mathis Vaughn, (Austin), aunt Mittie Mitchel (Georgia) Virginia Ann Captain, sister - in - law (Houston), aunt, Daisy Mathis Nelson, (Houston), uncle, Elward Guillory, Sr. and aunt, Mary Mathis Guillory (Houston), uncle, Johnny Mathis, Sr. (Dallas), uncle, Douglas Mathis (Houston), cousins; Wanda, Vanita and Joe Edwards, special goddaughter, Danielle, and many other relatives and friends.
