Gwendolyn Young Service Program
Gwendolyn Marie Young, lovingly known to many as “Puerto Rican Marie.”
Born on October 13, 1993, in Dallas, Texas, Gwen was a vibrant spirit with a warm heart and a fierce love for her family.
Her life was filled with music, laughter, and a deep love for animals. She enjoyed cooking, singing, and making memories with those she held dear. Gwendolyn’s faith was an important part of her life—she accepted Christ at an early age and participated at both Garth Chapel A.M.E. and Eternal Life Baptist Church. She joyfully sang in the Children’s and Youth Choirs and expressed her devotion to the Praise Dance Team. Gwendolyn was a natural caregiver, working in the healthcare field with patience and heart. She was especially proud of becoming a certified phlebotomist through Allied Health Academy, a testament to her dedication and determination.
Educated in the Dallas Independent School District, Gwendolyn was proud of her roots and her community.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Lahonita Young, her sister Aimee Young, and Baby Kayden.
Gwendolyn’s greatest joy was her children: Jaden, Christopher, Kensley, Ava, Arrington, and Emberlyn. She cherished every moment spent with them, nurturing them with strength, compassion, and unwavering love. She also leaves behind her devoted partner, Tarrington “TeeJay,” who stood by her with love and support. She is deeply missed by her loving parents, Clyde and Paula Johnson, who raised and cherished her, and siblings: Harold Hines, Christopher Lewis, Cami Lewis, Alexis Young, Xavier Young, Amiya Young, Wendel Smith, Rosalind Gorman, and Calah Johnson. Gwendolyn also shared a special bond with her bonus sisters, Tejia Williams-Lewis and Jada Harris. She is also missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Though her time with us was far too short, Gwendolyn Marie’s love, light, laughter and smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
