Harvest D McGriff II Program

Harvest Duncan McGriff, III (aka: Pooh), a loving son, brother, cousin, and friend, departed this life on Monday afternoon, November 15, 2021. Harvest was born September 24, 1969, in Dallas, Texas to Harvest Duncan McGriff, Jr. and Dorothy Mae Jones McGriff. Out of that union, two sons were born, Gregory Dewayne McGriff with Harvest, “Pooh”, being the youngest. Harvest, “Pooh”, was a kind and loving man. He had the smile of a lifetime and was fun loving, free spirited, and jovial. He never met a stranger! Harvest, “Pooh”, attended T.D. Marshall Elementary School, Columbus Junior High in Canoga Park, California, and graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in 1987, of the Dallas Independent School District. Harvest worked various jobs within the Dallas metroplex, including detailing cars. His hobbies consisted of grilling his favorite foods, restoring his classic 1969 C10 pickup truck, drag racing, and detailing cars. He was one of the best! He had aspired one day to open an Auto Customs and Tire Shop. Harvest loved being with family and friends. This made him happy! You could often find him with family and friends at our city parks, and in the church where he accepted Christ as his personal savior. At an early age, he joined the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth under the pastorage of his grandfather, Bishop Harvest D. McGriff, Sr. Upon Bishop McGriff Sr.’s illness, Harvest remained at the church under the leadership of Bishop Lottie D. McGriff, his grandmother. Upon his grandmother’s passing, Harvest’s membership continued under the leadership of his uncle, Bishop Larry D. McGriff, several other ministers, and ended with Elder Cameron McGriff Burley, Harvest’s half-brother. Harvest rarely missed attending church. He loved everyone there and was a faithful worker until his demise—serving as an usher just the day before his passing. Harvest would often loudly express his agreement with the songs and many sermons. He would give loud “Amens” and other expressions of approval! He was preceded in death by his: Father, Harvest Duncan McGriff, Jr.; Mother, Dorothy Mae McGriff; Paternal Grandparents, Bishops Harvest Duncan McGriff, Sr. and Lottie D. McGriff; Maternal Grandparents, Artis and Dorothea Jones; and several beloved Uncles and Aunts. Harvest “Pooh” McGriff, III., leaves to cherish his memories: Brothers, Gregory Dewayne McGriff (Samantha) and Cameron McGriff Burley. He also leaves to cherish his memories several Godbrothers and Godsisters: Kevin, Andre and Calvin Blount, Renee and Aretha Goines; Uncles: Weldon, Dea. Bennie Leon (Delano), and Charles McGriff; Aunts: Betty Jones, Dr. Addie Y.V. McGriff Hare (Sam), Gaylon D. McGriff Gowans (Rico), and a special Aunt, Maura Weikel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and a loving Church Family. Last but not least, he also leaves to cherish his memories a very special lady in his life, Ms. Frances Webb. Harvest, “Pooh Bear”, you will forever be missed!!!

Don’t think of me as gone away my journey’s just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. Just think of me as resting from the sorrows and the tears, in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how I must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of me as living in the hearts of those I touched… for nothing loved is ever lost and I was loved so much! ----"Pooh”
