JAMES HUGHES
Brother James Edward Hughes, Sr. was the first child of two born to the union of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Arline Hughes on July 4, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Texas. He attended Fredrick Douglas High School. The bible clearly reveals to mankind that it is appointed unto man one time to be born and a time to die. So with that in mind, James confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age. He joined the Palestine Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth W. Jenkins after to moving to Shreveport, LA, and served as an usher. James met the love and soulmate of his life, Fannie Mae Jenkin Hughes and was united in Holy Matrimony February 28, 1978, and to this union seven children were born and deeply loved. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX, God sent an Angel of Peace to the bedside of James to rest him from all his labor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Arline Hughes, sister, Pamela Hughes and daughter, LaTonya Hughes Carter. Memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of his wife, Fannie Mae (forty four years), sons; Kenneth Durrell, Michael (Arletta), Richard, Eric, James Jr., daughters; Tawana, Shameika, Tracey, grandchildren, fifteen great - grandchildren, seven sisters, two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends. James was a truck driver for thirty plus years. He loved to cook, he loved his family and others. He treated everyone the way he would want to be treated.
