Jerry L. Hooker was born on April 9, 1963, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Whitt and Mable Hooker. He attended Dallas Independent public schools as an adolescent. Later Jerry attended A. Maceo Smith High School in Dallas, Texas. Jerry accepted Christ at a very young age and joined Prayer House COGIC, Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of Elder Abron Forbes, and later Elder James C. Jerry worked for many years as an electrical assembler with General Telephone Electric (GTE)/Sylvania Electric, Dallas Texas. After the death of his sister Mary Lee Gatson, Jerry accepted the responsibility of making sure his three nieces, Mary ’ s daughters Sheritha (Gail), Jackie, and Alexandria (Zan) were taken care of until he became ill. He was very supportive of them and acted as father figure in their lives. Jerry was a great support system to his nieces in their mother ’ s absence. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; Father, Whitt Hooker, Mother, Mable Hooker, sisters Mary Lee Gatson, and Carolyn Jean Phillips. Jerry leaves to cherish his memories: very special niece and caregiver, Sheritha “ Gail ” Brown- Zachary (Cedric) of Dallas, Texas, significant other and caregiver, Lorelee Douglas, of Denton, Texas, Henry Hardin, Jr. (Frances) of Kansas City, Kansas, Willie Hooker (Marlese), of Forney, Texas, Helen Hooker, of Ennis, Texas, Arthur Hooker (Marilyn), of Desoto, Texas, and Robert Hooker (Vanessa), of Dallas, Texas.
