JoAnne Murrell was born June 23, 1964, at Van Nuys Hospital in Van Nuys, CA. JoAnne’s early education began at Vaughn Elementary School in Pacoima, CA., subsequently followed by attendances at Olive View Junior High School in Sylmar, CA & Maclay Junior High School, Pacoima, CA. JoAnne received her High School Diploma from John F. Kennedy High School, Granada Hills, CA. JoAnne later attended the Bryman School of Business obtaining a certificate of completion as a Medical Assistant (back-office). JoAnne accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pacoima, CA under the leadership of the late Dr. Hilary T. Broadous, Pastor/Founder. JoAnne faithfully served as a youth usher well into her teenage years. JoAnne was a current Power & Authority Tabernacle Church member in Grand Prairie, Texas where Dr. W.F. Hughes is the presiding Pastor/Apostle. JoAnne began her career at Robinson’s May Department store in Panorama City, CA as a “Sales Clerk” and later worked as a “Directory Assistance Operator” for GTE of California. Before leaving California JoAnne worked as a “Medical Claims” representative for HealthNet. JoAnne moved to Memphis, TN where she obtained employment as a “Staff Coordinator,” for Medical Staffing Network. JoAnne’s most recent employment up until her “transition,” was at Walgreens of DeSoto, TX as a “Sales associate.” JoAnne was affectionately known by her fellow co- workers as “The General.” JoAnne was highly creative with exceptional organizational skills. These characteristics showed up early in her life when at a very early age she learned to sew. Her love of sewing resulted in her making her outfit for her junior high school graduation. JoAnne knew how to organize and “take charge,” of any event or task she was given which was not limited to intangibles. Just ask some of her younger cousins, godchildren, and her “beloved nephew, Micah” whom she babysat. There is a rumor that JoAnne once threatened to jump in the sandbox to make her presence known to a group of 3 – 4-year- olds who were bothering her nephew “Micah,” whom she loved dearly. JoAnne loved hard and fiercely the effects of which rippled throughout her family, friends, and co-workers but especially her mother and sister (Deborah). Above all others is the love and affection she had for her husband David. David was JoAnne’s “best friend,” “buddy,” “road dawg” and avid “Dallas Cowboy fan.” It was not unusual to find them “couch side,” during the football season vigorously and loudly cheering and coaching their Dallas Cowboys. They truly loved each other’s company and were content living in their world of two. JoAnne gave back in equal and sometimes greater measures the love and loyalty showed to her. JoAnne was a “presence” and a “force” but more importantly a loyal crusader for those she loved. A quality not easily found but not soon forgotten. JoAnne is survived by her husband of 10 years David T. Murrell of DeSoto, TX. Parents Mary & James Clinton, DeSoto, Tx, her sister Deborah Clinton Lewis, Red Oak, TX, nephew Micah Emanuel Jonas Lewis, Red Oak, TX. Godparents; Dudley & Carolyn D’Apremont, Sylmar, CA, Jackie Gaines, Charenton, LA, Godchildren; Carvis Baldwin (Deceased), Raquel Hudson King, Beaverton, OR, Arthur Hamilton, North Hollywood, CA and a host of family and friends too numerous to name.
