Celebration of Life for J OHN K ENNETH (K ENT ) M ILES

Isaiah 41:10 NLT “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” J OHN K ENNETH M ILES was born on November 10, 1956, to the late John L. and Helen Miles in Bogalusa, LA. He departed this life on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was educated in the Bogalusa City School System and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1974. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Southern University in 1978. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. After graduating from Southern University, he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1984, John married his childhood sweetheart, Victoria Bridges. To this union, 3 children were born, John Kenneth Miles, II (aka JK) Rosalyn Anita Miles and Kevin Dewayne Miles. After discharge from the Navy, John worked in the aerospace industry for General Dynamics Corp in San Diego, CA and McDonnell-Douglas Corp in Long Beach, CA before joining the railroad. He was a part of the initial crew for Metro-Link of Los Angeles, an affiliate of Amtrak. Later, he worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and was relocated to Kansas City, KS. 6 years later, John received a promotion and was relocated to Fort Worth, TX. He returned to Amtrak -Fort Worth where he served as General Foreman managing Oklahoma City, Fort Worth and San Antonio in the mechanical division. He retired from Amtrak in 2023. Since that time, he enjoyed working at the YMCA North Park where he coached soccer and was a referee for basketball. He enjoyed traveling, especially to see family in Austin, Chicago, Detroit and Long Beach. He enjoyed his grandchildren and had special names for them- Ava, star scholar and athlete, Trey- the main man, Mila-pretty girls walk like this, and Isaiah – Dude, Isaiah called him “Papa Dude.” John was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Helen Miles; and two brothers, James C. Addison and Wilton Miles. John leaves to cherish memories: his wife, Dr. Victoria Bridges Miles; son, John Kenneth Miles, II (aka JK) and daughter-in-love Shantel Botone Miles, Liberty MO; son Kevin Dewayne Miles, Austin, TX and daughter, Rosalyn Miles, Arlington, TX; grandchildren: Ava Rene-Marie Miles, John Kenneth Miles, III (aka Trey) Kansas City, MO; Mila Nanette Miles, Liberty, MO; brother, Alan Miles and wife Nicole Miles, Long Beach, CA; sister, Penny Miles Adams and husband, Vernon Adams, Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Will T. Bridges, Chicago, IL; nieces and nephews: Vanessa Jackson, Janet Addison-Mitchell, Lucy Addison, Christopher Addison, James Addison, Sheldon Miles, Alan Miles, II (aka AJ), Sage Miles, Tamika Miles, Wilton Miles, II and Steven Miles of California.
