Psalm 121:1&2 The Life Reflections On November 7, 1961, a loving, caring, compassionate and hilarious son, Brother Karl Bernard Lewis was born to Earnest Merrick Lewis Sr. and Besther Thomas Lewis at Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville, LA. Brother Karl grew up in a loving home with plenty of prayers, discipline, love and food. Brother Karl attended Simmesport High School and then quit and pursued a trade at Woodworth Cabinets and Carpentry in Cottonport, LA. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Wright, Sr. He later moved to Dallas, Texas in the 1980’s where he pursued different jobs, and in the 90’s he started working for U.S. Ink, Inc. for 23 years until his health began to fail him. Brother Karl met the love of his life, Doris Marie Hills and was joined into Holy Matrimony on March 30, 1991, and to this union one son was born, Carlos Carmaine Lewis (CC). Brother Karl leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Charles Carmaine Lewis (Ashlynn); two grandsons, Quemarion (Q), and De’Kaprio (DJ) Lewis; one brother Tony Lewis of Dallas, TX; five sisters, Carol Stelly and Darlene Franklin of Simmesport, LA, Kimberly and Dana Lewis of Baton Rouge, LA, Sharon Goouch of New Orleans, LA; four brothers-in-law, John Hills, & Woodley Hills of Melville, LA, Joel Tompkins of Dallas, TX Bernie R. Anderson of Simmesport, LA; five sisters-in-law, Sylvia Lewis, Diane Broadneaux and Mary Lewis of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Hills of Melville, LA and Wanda Lewis of Monseeru, LA; four adopted children, Tamera Nelson, Tracy Nelson, Keyona Brown & Carluis Franklin of Dallas, TX; two God-children Marcus Alexander and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Onaiwu; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Brother Karl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Marie Lewis, paternal grandparents, Walter and Olivia Lewis, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Clinton Thomas and Margaret T. Thompson; parents, Earnest and Bester T. Lewis, Sr.; brothers, Earnest Lewis Jr., Clinton Lewis Sr., Charles R. Lewis & Ronnie Lewis; sisters, Pamela Wright, Gilda Anderson, Bernedine Lewis, Paula Tompkins and Linda F. Benjamin.
