The Family
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. II Timothy 4:7 - 8

Sparkle of Our Eye
LAWANNA was born on February 24, 1973, in Dallas, Texas, to the parents of James and Bobbie Sykes. LAWANNA was given the nickname “LADY ” by her mother because she always called Lawanna her little Lady. LAWANNA was the baby of three children. Being the baby of the family , LAWANNA received a lot of attention from her parents, grandparents, and older siblings. The attention made her feel that she was her parent's favorite. She was the light of our family. LAWANNA kept the entire family on their toes and prepared for anything . LAWANNA began her spiritual journey at an early age at Maude B. Porter Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. While attending Maude B. Porter, LAWANNA was an active worker serving in the church choir. LAWANNA began her early elementary education at Jose Navarro in Dallas, TX. She continued her middle and high school education in the Cedar Hill Independent School District, where she would go on to graduate from Cedar Hill High School in 1991. LAWANNA attended Texas Women's University with aspirations of becoming a Court Reporter. After her college years, LAWANNA began her career working as a Teller for Bank One for several years. She later transitioned into an Accounting Career, where she would flourish. LAWANNA was employed by Gainwell Technologies before GOD sent his angels to bring her home. Some of LAWANNA’s happiest moments in life were spent with her family and friends. Also, being spoiled by her father and brother, going out to dine at new restaurants, cooking, shopping, and watching Lifetime movies. In 2008, LAWANNA was married to Allen Collins.
LAWANNA leaves to cherish her memory: Parents, mother, Bobbie Sykes, father, James Sykes (Wanda); sister, Marvina “Tasha” Thompson (Ivory); brother, James Sykes Jr. (Shante); aunt Evelyn Cooper (Kenneth); uncle, David Sykes; two nephews, Tomarco Royal, and Tevin Smith; five grand nephews: TJ Royal, Josiah Royal, Elijah Royal and her “aunties baby” Cameron Smith.
