I N L OVING M EMORY OF Momma
M ELBA J OYCE M C L EAN A NDERSON received her eternal reward on November 12, 2023.
Momma, you were just a girl, So many years ago. You had your loves and had your dreams, You watched us come and go. You watched us make the same mistakes, That you had made before, Instead of judgment, you just prayed And loved us all the more.

Melba was born on October 16, 1953, in Paris, TX, to Everett and Mae Dell Smith. She attended Givens Elementary and Gibbons Junior High School respectively and was one of the first students to attend an integrated school in Paris, TX, Crockett Junior High School. She graduated at the top of her class at Paris High School in 1971. Melba gave her life to Christ at an early age. She served in the choir at Hospitality C.OG.I.C, where she led many songs and sang countless solos around the Paris, TX area leaving an indelible mark wherever she sang. She had a pure love for Jesus and often quoted her mother by saying, “This ain’t nothing me and the Lord can’t handle!” After high school, she attended East Texas State University pursuing a degree in biology. She continued her passion in healthcare by caring for the elderly as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and Medication-Aide for over 35 years. She had a vast knowledge of medicine and an incomparable work ethic. Nurses often consulted her for her medical opinions and advice. Melba retired in 2020 due to the pandemic and during this time she renewed her love of sewing. She was also an avid reader and loved to work on all types of puzzles including crosswords, word searches, and sudoku. She is preceded in death by her parents and her youngest beloved son: Kendrick. She leaves behind her life partner: Rodney Anderson; her siblings: Rick, Cameron (Thelma), Darrell “Pap”, and Angela; her children: Kasaundra (Marcus), Kristin, Kyron, and Kevin (Erica); grandchildren: Alex (Deja), Judah, Isaiah, and Hayley; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and loved ones.
