Mildred Ruth Walker (Sugarmeat) was born on May 12, 1942, in Pittsburg, TX. to the late J. W. Walker Sr. and Espenolar Thomas. The family later moved to Commerce, TX. Mildred found Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Valley Creek Church of Christ until her health failed. Mildred attended Norris High School where she graduated as salutatorian and played basketball, as well as participated in several other organizations. She then received her associate degree at Southwestern Christian College Terrell, TX, and continued her education at Bishop College, Dallas, TX. Mildred made her home in Dallas, TX where she was employed at TI (Texas Instruments) while attending school, later accepting a job with Pollack Paper Company until it closed. Mildred then worked with Distronics until her retirement. Mildred loved her family and enjoyed spending time traveling and playing games with her friends at the Senior Center.
She was proceeded in death by two brothers, Milton Walker, Jerry Walker and one sister Virginia Turner.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory one son Derwin A. Morrison (Toyota), two granddaughters Darniecia Morrison and LaToya Easter, one great grandson Cannon Pinchback; four brothers, Edward K. Thomas, J.W. Walker Jr.(Vera), Robert Walker, and Horace Marshall; a special niece Leah Cauley, a God daughter Patricia Sanders, a close friend Gloria West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
