M YRTLE L. B OOKER was born in Pittsburg, TX on August 17, 1953 to the parents of the late James E. Bennett Sr. and Merdiest L. Bennett. She pursues her homemaking skills in the shadow of her mom with sewing, cooking and most of all loving God and His people. Myrtle L Booker has always been known as “Mama Myrtle”. She was always had a way of being Mama to many. She had a way of showing everyone she came in contact with love. Mama Myrtle knew that there was strength in her hugs. She never like to say good-bye but she would say “later-on”. Mama Myrtle will always be known for being a fun and funny person to be around. Her mom once told her that she was a comedian. Mama Myrtle made you laugh with jokes that didn’t make sense. She would give people nick-names and re- name people so that she wouldn’t forget faces. She was able to see the good in every bad situation. She enjoyed music, singing, playing her maracas in church and ultimately living for the Lord. Mama Myrtle favorite scripture is Hebrew 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Mama Myrtle served Missionary Mother Booker and president of the Mother’s Board for many years under the leadership of her brother, the late Bishop Cardell Booker Sr. She continued to work enthusiastically and very dedicated in the work of the ministry under the Pastor Jessica and Bishop Roderick Johnson. She enjoyed serving in the church and made up her own department, “Clean up the bathrooms department” at God’s Tabernacle of Deliverance. She enjoyed taking teddy bears to the nursing homes of residents. Her last endeavor during her final days was to write a book entitled “Do What the Lord say because He don’t want to make you do it.” Her story has been told. She will be greatly missed. In her own words, “I love you, God bless and that’s it and that’s all.” She leaves to cherish her memories: beloved husband and mate of 40 years, Deacon Roddrick D.
