Odessia Whitfield was born on May 23, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas to the parents of John Henry & Lovie Lee Whitfield.

Odessia accepted Christ at an early age. She loved, appreciated and faithfully worshiped for almost 25 years until her departure at Judia Baptist Church, located in Dallas, Texas where Paster Rev. Lonzie Range Jr. presided.

Odessia attended Dallas ISD. Later in life she proudly continued her education and joyfully received her Diploma. Odessia was a genuine soul and touched so many lives as a caring and dedicated Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. Throughout her life, Odessia exemplified relentless strength and unwavering love. She was known for her commitment to helping others and for being a person of her word. Odessia was also known for her signature phrase, such as “ Baby Look ”, “ I don ’ t think so ”, “ I ’ m so for sure ”, “ Baby Boom ” “ Blessed & Encouraged ”, “ As Much to Be Expected ” and “ You know I Love You ”. If Odessia says she is going to do something, she did it! Showcasing her integrity and reliability. Her selflessness extended beyond her profession, as she was always ready to stand up for others, show up when she was called and lending a helping hand. Our Beloved Odessia Whitfield gained her beautiful Wings to match her beautiful Crown on Friday, January 19, 2024. Odessia touched the lives of many as a caregiver and nurse. She pursued a career as both a caretaker and nurse, providing essential support to those in need. Her dedication to improving the lives of others earned her immense respect within her community. She was admired for her genuine care and compassion, which brought solace to many facing challenging times. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Odessia had a range of hobbies and interests that brought joy into her life. She possessed a knack for knitting, creating beautiful pieces with every stitch. Cooking was another passion, and she took pleasure in preparing delicious meals for loved ones. However, nothing meant more than to cherish beloved time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Odessia's sophisticated demeanor reflected her graceful nature. She was truly a classy lady who loved GOD. Among Odessia's proudest achievements were the deep relationships she fostered with family and friends. She treasured each connection dearly and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Odessia leaves behind cherished memories that will forever remain engraved in our hearts. She is survived by three loving children: Louis Benjamin Whitfield, Temika Shanta Whitfield, and Shemeka Shavon Whitfield.

Nine loving grandchildren: Dominique, Demarcus (Alma), Demarius, Ta ’ Myrah, Mikayla, Keyanna, KyRahn, Benjamin and D ’ Micah.

Seven Great grandchildren: Aiden, Julius, Kyla, Karter, Kaniyla, Kior and Abigail (soon to arrive). Odessia ’ s Legacy of children is her Soul and the light of her life. Bringing immense joy and fulfillment to every day that was spent together. Odessia can Rest in Peace, being very proud of her children and just as Proud of her Grandchildren, knowing that her Legacy will live on through the foundation of her own strength and unwavering Love for them. Odessia was preceded in death by her parents John and Lovie Whitfield; two sisters Mildred and Cherlonda; three brothers Andy, Ramon and John; one nephew John Henry, one niece Tawana.

Their memories will continue to be cherished as a reminder of the love and bond that was shared.
