THE LIFE & LEGACY OF Robert L. Turner Jr. Robert (Bo) L. Turner Jr. was born on October 18, 1960, in West Dallas, Texas, to Gwendolyn Turner and Robert L. Turner, Sr. He was the oldest of the boys in a close-knit family of nine children — where love, resilience, and deep family bonds shaped his life from the very beginning. As a young boy, Robert found joy and purpose at the West Dallas Boys Club, where he met his lifelong mentor, King Cross. It was there that he began to develop the values that would define him: discipline, generosity, and a strong commitment to his community. Bo shared over 43 years of love and partnership with his devoted wife, Wanda Turner. Together, they built a life filled with family, faith, and unwavering dedication to one another as they raised four children. He had a natural gift with his hands and an unmatched mind for mechanics. His career began at Firestone, but through hard work and determination, he went on to establish his own business — R.L. Turner Automotive — which served the Dallas community for over 20 years. More than just a shop, it was a place of trust, mentorship, and neighborhood connection. Robert was not just a business owner, he was a pillar of the community, a man whose master skill set kept people safe on the road. Robert was preceded in death by his nephew Marcus Turner, his beloved son DeAngelo Roundtree, his mother Gwendolyn Turner, and his brother Michael Jimmerson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength carried on by his wife, Wanda Turner; his daughters TeMesa Benit (Drew), Diana Cortez(Ricky), and RaShonda Turner(Bryan); his grandchildren: Desiree Lewis, Jordan Wesley, Mikayla Hightower, Desmier Roundtree, Stoni Benit, Miyah Ryder, Daquavion Roundtree, Robert K. Turner, De’Angelo Roundtree Jr., Toi’Cean Simmons, Tevon Cortez, Ja’Vante Cortez, Carlleon Wilson, Deangelo Wilson, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He is also survived by his father, Robert L. Turner, Sr., and his siblings: Vernessa Thomas, Sheila Faye Thomas, Linda Turner, Brian Turner, Jackie Turner, Joe Turner, Vickie Turner, Michael Turner, Robert Clark, Melvin Turner, Robert Earl Turner, Rosalyn Glenn, Shelly Black, and Shawn Turner. A proud fan of the San Francisco 49ers — and later the Kansas City Chiefs— Robert brought that same loyalty and passion to everything he did. He was a man of quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep compassion. Whether offering advice, lending a hand, or cracking a joke at just the right time, he left a mark that can never be erased. Robert L. Turner Jr. was the kind of man who showed up — for his family, his community, and his calling. His life was a testament to faith, love, and hard work. Though he has transitioned from this world, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the lives he touched will echo for generations. Rest well, Bo. Your legacy rolls on.
