Pastor Michael Dwain Pryor
continued this faithfulness until his health began to fail. The diagnosis of Stage 4 Colon Cancer on March 31, 2022, did not slow him down from serving God. He fought a good fight of faith to serve the Lord. After 35 chemotherapy treatments, he was still going strong. But the last three treatments (36, 37 and 38) took a toll on his body. God was saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Pastor Pryor has been pastoring for 26 years. For the past 7 1/2 years, he served faithfully as Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. He also served as the Pastor of Third Avenue Missionary Baptist Church from 1996-2015 as well as the Executive Minister of New Birth from 1990-2015. He dutifully served as an Instructor at Southern Bible Institute for many years. Pastor Pryor also served as the President of the Missionary General Baptist Convention of Texas State Congress; Moderator of the Dallas Regional District Association; Member of Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance; Member of Dallas Baptist Minister’s Union; and Member of the National Baptist Convention of America. Pastor Pryor has been blessed to receive numerous awards: The Interdenominational Ministers Alliance Young Pastor’s Award in 1999; Pastor of the Month by KGGR Radio Station in 1998; Man of the Year Award from New Birth Baptist Church in 2006; Induction in the Elite News Religious Hall of Fame on August 25, 2007; and Teacher of the Year at Third Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in 2012. While Rev. Michael D. Pryor has many awards and accolades, his highest honor was that of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving as Pastor and Teacher of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Pryor always said that “As a good steward, I want to be available and supportive to my membership.” John 14:6 – “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Titus 3:8 – “This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” Pastor Pryor was preceded in death by his father, Founding Pastor, Rev. Dr. George Wynn Pryor and sisters, Tammy Pryor, and Denise Erskine. Pastor Pryor leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Stephanie Pryor; two sons, Joshua (Michelle), Caleb (Brittany); two daughters, Seaira, and Elizabeth; four grandchildren Solomon, Immanuel, Jewel and Seth; his two nephews Chaz and Simeon Pryor who he helped in raising and rearing; mother Alma Jewel Pryor; sister, Pamela Myers (Adrian); two brothers, Rev.
