Phyllis Miller

HER LIFE, LOVE, AND LEGACY

Phyllis Diane Miller was born March 1, 1965 in Dallas, TX to James and Evelyn Strickland. Her battle with cancer started at the early age of 13. Despite her health issues, Phyllis didn’t let that stop her from living her life to the fullest. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her two children, Shaquala and Robert. Phyllis loved eating and there wasn’t a food item she wouldn’t try. She loved listening to music, dancing, spending time with her family and playing slot machines. She loved on her family and encouraged everyone to get along. Phyllis never met a stranger and welcomed everyone she encountered. She was a kind hearted, sweet and genuine person. She showered her grandkids with the utmost love and affection. They kept her on her toes and brought her so much joy. She was preceded in death by her father, James Strickland; brother, Charles Miller and sisters, Marsha Mike and Brenda Miller. Phyllis put up a good fight and completed her final mission on November 15, 2023 at 12:15 pm. She leaves to mourn: her mother, Evelyn Strickland; significant other, Robert Lloyd; two children, Shaquala “Qua” Miller and Robert “RaRa” Miller; three sisters, Debra Berry, Rita Miller and Kelly Strickland; two brothers, Billy Miller and Phillip (Hattie) Miller; eleven grandchildren, Keandria, MaKayla, Kevin “KJ” Raniyah, Kelvin “Pimp”, Ra’Keria, RaKenya, Ivory, Elijah, Isaiah and Ca’Lea; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Her bonus sister, Denise Wilson.

Mama, you held us all together so we’re broken without you! I know you’re at peace now but the selfish part of me wishes you were still here. Mama, you fought a tough fight, you can finally get your rest but mama your baby boy is hurting. You taught me how to do everything in life but live without you. Mama get your well deserved rest, I love you. RaRa

My heart is sadden from missing you. God needed an angel and it was you. You’ll spread your wings and hold me tight and tell us believe in God and you’ll be alright. And as we cry on missing you, our hearts will feel loved all day through, knowing that you’re missing us too. And now that we celebrate you today, thank you for the love left here to stay. You were the BEST granny we could’ve asked for. We knew anytime we were in trouble or sad we had someone to run to, who would comfort and defend us every time. Thank you for always being so caring and supportive. You taught us so much about love and to always cherish your family, no matter what. Whenever the song “Love Yo Family” by Boosie come on, we will forever think of you and how you would sing word for word. No matter how much time pass you will forever be our sweet loving granny. Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent a floral piece, if so, we saw it there. Perhaps you prayed a sincere prayer or came to pay a call. Perhaps you sang a cheerful song, if so, we heard it all. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words, as any friend could say. Perhaps you prepared a tasty dish, or maybe furnished a car. Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, near at hand or from afar. Whatever you did to console our hearts, by word or deed or touch. Whatever was the kindly part, we thank you, oh so very much.
