Mr. Robert Orlando Andrews was born January 15, 1976 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the late John Dewey Andrews, Sr. and Annie Mae Piper Andrews. Rob as he was affectionally known as was the youngest of the Andrews bunch. Robert was educated in the Morehouse Parish School System and graduated from Bastrop High. He was the class president, member of Mu Sigma Honor Society, a member of the band where he played the tuba, and the orchestra where he played the cello and bass. He was also a member of the Monroe Youth Symphony and a Champion Shower at Southern University Livestock Show. Robert attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education graduating with honors. Robert began his teaching career in the Carol Jr. High School in Monroe, LA, later moving to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and teaching in Richardson Independent School District, Dallas Independent School District and Allen Independent School District. Robert taught and coached in the Manor School District in Manor, Texas, where his basketball teams were District Champs 2011 – 2012 where they made it all the way to the reginal semi - finals, along with the 2013 – 2014 team. After his time in Manor, Robert accepted a teaching and head basketball coaching position in the Frisco Independent School District at Lebanon Trail up until he was not able to work anymore. Robert confessed his love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana under the care of Pastor Willie D. Simmons. He served faithfully as a youth usher and sang in the choir. Robert had a strong and unshakeable faith in God. Robert met and married his rib Shayla in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 16 years until his transition. Robert was a sports fanatic and loved playing golf with his brothers, and he looked forward to his annual “ Guy ’ s Trip. ” with his IC brothers. Robert was an avid chef. He took great joy in making delicious food. He enjoyed going to the movies and spending time with his nephews and great - nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dewey Andrews, Sr. and Annie Mae Piper Andrews, his brother John Dewey Andrews, Jr., and his father in - law Henry L. Mickens, Sr. On Saturday, February 18, 2023, he left his earthly home surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Shayla O. Andrews; His brothers: Pastor Reginald L. Andrews, Sr. (Andrea Denise) Fort Worth, Texas; Pastor Samuel M. Andrews (Katrina) Ruston, Louisiana; Mother in - law: Mary Mickens of Detroit, Michigan, Brother in - law: Henry L. Mickens, Jr. (Michelle) of Phoenix, Arizona, Sister in - law: Stephanie Mickens of Detroit, Michigan, Five nephews: Cartell Brown, Justin D. Andrews, Reginald L. Andrews, Jr. (Vicktoria), William Michael Andrews, and Samuel Joseph Andrews; One niece: Kayla Bonner; Two Great - nephews: Xavier L. Andrews and Kaiden L. Andrews; One god - sister: Alexis Atkins - Tillman, His IC brothers (Cooper Barnes, Adrian “ AB ” Burnett, Chad Clark, Howard Loche, Lee Jones, and Korey Smith), mentor: Coach Reg Robinson, a host of god - children, other relatives, and friends.
