Roscoe Dwayne Mickens Jr., was born unto the union of Lovie and Roscoe Mickens on February 15, 1952 in Como, TX. Roscoe was affectionately known as Junebug by his parents and all his cousins. His nieces and nephews called him Uncle Flick and his best friends called him Scoe. Roscoe graduated from Como High School in 1970, where he played football and ran track. After graduation he joined his brothers Roy and Coy in Los Angeles, California, attending Los Angeles City Community College. He returned to Texas after living a few years in California. Roscoe dedicated 34 years in his position as Water Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Fort Worth Water department Village Creek Waste Treatment Plant. He was a member of Abundant Life in which he served as a Men’s Ministry Leader. Roscoe was a devoted husband and great father. He passed all his knowledge, skills, and love of cars down to his children. Roscoe was a hardworking, wise, and loving individual. Roscoe was an easygoing man who loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A love that he learned from his father. A loved he shared with his son, brothers, and church members. He would plan annual hunting trips with his brothers and friends, sitting back and enjoying a good laugh. Roscoe also was a huge sports fan and a die-hard supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. Roscoe was someone who knew something about almost everything. Roscoe touched many lives and was very reliable and resourceful to many. A true friend to many and all who knew him loved him. Roscoe was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories and an indelible legacy. Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents Lovie and Roscoe Mickens; wife, Deborah Mickens; and older siblings, Roy and Constance Faye Mickens. Roscoe leaves to cherish his memories: children: Eric McClellan, Deja Mickens and Corbin (Kayla) Mickens; Siblings: Coy Mickens; grandchildren: Dairen McClellan, Jaidyn Cartwright, J’Zaria Cartwright, Dayla McClellan, Jaidd Roney, Kayden Taylor; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
