Sedric Bowens was born on November 1, 1972 to Gwendolyn Mae Bowens. He received his education in the Dallas Public Schools, where he played football in high school until he critically injured his knee and could no longer play. He graduated from Lincoln High School and after graduation he studied to become a barber at La Hair Barber School. He later became a licensed barber and practiced his profession until his illness. In 2003, Sedric married the love of his life Lawanna Green. To this union he became the bonus father to Marquis and later their daughter Madison was born. Sedric worked at the Agape Homehealth Care, St. Anthony's School, City of Dallas and at the time of his illness he was working at Baylor Dentistry. Sedric passed on February 2, 2023, at Parkland Hospital after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gwendolyn Bowens Pumphrey, his uncle, Hubert Bowens, his aunt, Bettye Johnson and his grandmother, Letha Bowens. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving wife, Lawanna Bowens, his daughter, Madison Bowens, his son Marquis Green, his grandchildren; McKenzie and Yari, his sister, Brandy Bowens, brother, Keeman Bowens (Tanisha Bastedh), one bonus brother, Roderick Brown, his niece, Paidyn Dibbles, his aunts; Patricia Mymbs, Carolyn Bowens, and an uncle, Halburt Bowens. His cousins; James E. Johnson (Rockellia), Darrell Johnson, Rodrick Bowens, Shuntea Bowens, Jada LoBrandon (Cornell), a friend Donald Wright. He also leaves to cherish his Crew (Buddies) who were not just his friends they were his family. So rest assured Sedric Denard Bowens has gained his wings and has set up his Barber Chair at a highly respected place - up yonder to meet our Lord.
