Thelma was born to the late Walker Mae Johnson of Henderson, TX. She was raised and graduated high school in Dallas, TX. Thelma later married Rev. Rodger L. Smith in 1986. Thelma loved the Lord. She was a woman with a beautiful, giving spirit who enjoyed cooking and crafting. She was preceded in death by her mother, Walker Mae Johnson, two sisters; Shirley Brooks, Sarah Johnson and one brother, Thomas Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Rev. Rodger L. Smith, one son, Ricky Gates; two daughters; Kedra Smith, LaKandra (Elisha) Ross, one sister, Betty (John L.) Johnson, one grandson, Christian Williams, four granddaughters; Stephanie Emerson, Nicki (Victor) Lambert, La ’ Tarjinee Johnson, Tarjae Hall, two great granddaughters; Aze ’ a Johnson, Evianna Lambert, one great - grandson, Victor Lambert, Jr., two special friends; Rose Sweat and Rose French, one “ special ” daughter - Princess and a host of nieces and nephews .
