A Tribute To Our Mother

The day God called you home... in tears I saw you sinking and Watched you fade away. My heart was almost broken. I wanted you to stay, but when I saw you sleeping so peaceful from pain again It broke my heart to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of me went with you, the day God took you home,

I Love You, Mama

A Virtuous Woman Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

She girdeth her loins with strength and strengtheneth her arms.

Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Verta was born on December 20, 1944 to the parentage of Verdell Gibbs and Velma Gibbs in Lone Oak, Texas . After the death of her mother, she along with her brothers Leo and Louis, were raised by her grandmother, Valrie Johnson. Valrie relocated to Fort Worth, TX where Verta attended James E. Guinn and the historic I.M. Terrell High School. Verta met and married Raymond Coleman and to this union three children were born: ShuRonda, Reginald, and LaCheryl. Verta accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of First Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. She was an active member until her passing. Verta worked for Harris Methodist Hospital for 42 years. Verta loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. She was a avid News watcher and she loved "General Hospital" so much that we couldn't call her between 1 and 2. On May 7, 2024, Verta heard and answered the Master's call. She is preceded in death by her parents, Verdell and Velma Gibbs; grandmother Valrie Johnsn; son Reginald Raynard Coleman and one brother Louis Vaughn Gibbs. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters ShuRonda White and LaCheryl Coleman, her beloved son in law Clintell Willis; one brother Leo Gibbs; her grandchildren Keith White (Neeka) and Kaira White; her great grandchildren: Kyron, Khristian, and Keith White III, her best friend, Maple Embry and a special friend Ysleta Franklin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
