Alice Dolores (Burton) Cline was born in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Lois Standoak and W.C. Burton, Sr. She was the third of four children. Alice received her formal education in the Dallas Independent School district during a time when school integration was just beginning. Her fondest memories were being on the drill team at Sarah Zumwalt in the ninth grade. While at Zumwalt she learned to sew and craft in her Home Economics class taught by Ms. Powell, a skill and love that she would carry throughout her life. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School (SOC) Class of ’69. In 1968, Alice married Augusta L. Jones and to this union three children were born, Devin, Kenneth, and Valarie. Alice later met and married Leonard Cline, her husband and partner of over 35 years. Although no children were born to this union, together they raised and supported, Devin, Kenneth, Valarie, and Tangela. Alice lived her life as a Proverbs 31:10-31 Virtuous Woman. As a business partner in Beau Décor, Alice designed and decorated her client’s homes; as a Esty shop owner she handcrafted heirlooms for clients to treasure for generations; as a member of Jones Fitz Burton, LLC she invested in real estate. During her life’s journey Alice never met a stranger. Be it co-worker, business partner or random person in a store - Alice developed life-long friendships. She genuinely cared about others and would give of her time and talents if she could be a blessing to someone else.
