On February 1, 1940 in the city of Dallas, Texas, beautiful flower bloomed in the garden of Odell and Vivian Collins, they lovingly named this flower Bessie. Bessie gained her education from Booker T. Washington Technical High School in Dallas, Texas, and afterwards went on to work for Cele Johnson ’ s custom lamps for fifteen years.. Then retired as a homemaker. On Saturday , May 4, 2024 at the age of eighty –four, the Lord noticed that Bessie was not just a beautiful flower, but a rose that He desired for His Heavenly garden. Bessie will be welcomed to The City Of Gold by those who preceded her in death: her parents; Odell and Vivian Collins; three brothers, Odell Royce Collins, Maurice Collins and David Collins; one sister, Helen Freeman; her husband Roy Dale Birch; and two sons Gary Birch and Steven Sims. Those left to cherish her memories includes: one son, Michael Ray Sims (Vondell; daughter - in - law, Lisa Birch (Gary - in– Spirit); one brother, Pastor Willie J. Collins (Ruth); two sisters, Mozell Anderson and Sylvia Shackelford; grandchildren, Gary Birch, Jr., Roy Birch ( Kailyn), Michael Ray Sims, Jr and six other grandchildren, great - grandchildren; Roy Birch, Jr., Kaisyn Birch, Zha ’ Niyah Birch and Serenity Birch and a host of relatives and friends.
