Brown Elegant Frame Memorial Service Program

Grace was a mother of many. Despite caring for seven children of her own, she invited her nieces and nephews to live with her and her family in Accra. She also cared for her husband’s family members and several neighborhood children. Many fondly called Grace "Amoa Awusi, Owo aba-Duasa San Gye Abay3n." Although she had limited resources, she never turned away anyone in need. Grace spent most of her marital life in the military Barracks at Burma camp. She traded goods as a profession and became a keen businesswoman with many years of experience. Although she did not receive formal business education, Grace received practical experience from the streets of Accra. Her children often accompanied her (sometimes wrapped on her back) during her market and trading experiences which provided them an early exposure to business. Grace was industrious and resilient. Despite experiencing loss, grief, and bereavement at an early age, Grace continued to work hard in order to earn an honest living. Her work ethic was observed by her children and each continue to exhibit these traits and characteristics today. grace’s primary goal was to help her family live comfortably in Accra where they had access to opportunities that she never had.

Grace Darkwa was a kind, loving, generous, calm, and assertive. She had a great sense of humor and was a confidant to many.

As her children became older and traveled abroad, Grace continued to gain support from her children who lived in Ghana, in-laws, and grandchildren. She was also an active member of the Pentecostal church which gave her great joy.
