Do not let your hearts be troubled, For I have only gone ahead. Though you cannot see me standing there, I walk beside you still instead. I carried many battles in life, But love was always my greatest fight — To guide you, guard you, raise you strong, And keep you safe both day and night. I wore the uniform with honor, Served my country proud and true, But my greatest title in this life Was simply being Dad to you. When Sundays came with football on And music from the old days played, Those simple moments shared with you Were the richest memories we made. Do not remember me in sorrow, Nor think that I am far away. For in your hearts and in your laughter, My spirit lives with you each day. And when your road feels hard to travel And tears begin to fall again, Just close your eyes and feel my love — Until we meet in Heaven, my family, my friends.
