CHARLOTTE LAVERN HOLLOWAY “VERN” LIFE JOURNEY

OFFICIATING PASTORS Cheryl Wesley, AFMBC Chris Wesley, AFMBC

was born on February 2, 1959, to the parentage of Robert Lee Sr. and Ruby Faye (nee Gaines) Overstreet in Dallas, Texas and departed this Earth on January 28, 2024. Her father, Robert Sr., and sister, Willie Delois “Mickey” Ford preceded her in death. Charlotte, known by close friends and family as “Vern,” was raised in Dallas, Texas, where she attended DISD schools and graduated from Skyline High School in 1977. Charlotte went on to become a respiratory therapist, working at St. Paul and Baylor Hospitals. Charlotte, always striving to learn more and better the lives of her family as a single mother, often working more than one job, obtained an AA, a BA in Social Services from the University of North Texas, and finally, an MA in Professional Counseling from Amberton University in 2016. Charlotte was a social worker who worked for Dallas MetroCare Services as a case manager and, ultimately, a contractor for the state of Texas in El Paso at the border. As an adult, Charlotte, who had long prior accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, rededicated her life to Him. She not only introduced her children (and countless others) to Christ, among many other crucial lessons, she wanted them to know that a relationship with Jesus was personal and something they should not enter into lightly, but after self study and understanding of what such dedication truly meant. Over her years with us, Charlotte was a servant leader in the church as a member of the choir and a teacher in the children's church. At the time of her passing, she was a faithful member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Ruby; stepmother, Elmarie; two children: Lana (Chandler) Johnson and Eric (Kayla) Holloway; six grandchildren: Chandler Ellis, Brendan, Corinne, Kaydon, Kellan, and Baylee; four siblings: Kerry Thompson, Carolyn (Kenneith) Hatley, Robert Jr., Delicia (Rontrek) Floyd, four nieces: Lanita, Natosha, Kara and Daja, four nephews: Clinton, Gary Jr., Robert III “Tray” and Dylan; plus a host of extended family and friends.
