Freddie Lee Harris was born June 22, 1947, in Tallulah, LA to the late Clara Johnson and Reverend Leon H. Harris, Sr. Freddie was the 3rd child of 13 siblings. During his teenage years, he devoted his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized by his father, Reverend Leon Harris, Sr. at New Hope Baptist Church in Tallulah, LA. At the age of 18, he graduated from McCall High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam War. After serving in the army, he pursued a career in carpentry and landscaping. He was a jack of all trades serving the community in his hometown,Tallulah. He was also an excellent fisherman, gardener and a true “Momma’s boy”. In 2014, due to health complications, Freddie relocated to Fort Worth, Texas to reside with his sister, Clara Norris. He was later transferred to Parkview Care Center in 2015 to reside alongside his brother Willie Sylvan Harris. Freddie continued to enjoy being a part of family vacations, dinners, holiday gatherings, and attending church with his sister Clara and nieces Melodie, Mia, Misty, and Rachel. As Freddie’s health continued to decline, Klarus Hospice Care provided care until his passing. On January 2, 2023, at Parkview Care Center he went to rest with the Lord. Freddie Harris made a wonderful impact on his family and friends with his sweet, kind, and quiet spirit. He was full of life and showed love to those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Leon Harris Sr. and Clara Johnson; siblings, Reverend Leon Harris Jr., Felton Harris, Sheila Harris, and daughter, Shadonna Henderson. He leaves to mourn his siblings Ruby James of Delaware, Darnella Houston of Missouri City, TX, Clara Norris (the late Bishop William Norris) of Fort Worth, TX, Jessie Coleman (Chester) of Bossier City, LA, Willie Sylvan Harris of Fort Worth, TX, Maggie Faye Harris of Bossier City, LA, Anthony Harris of Tallulah, LA, Marvin Harris (Christina) of Mansfield, TX, Andre Harris of Bossier City, LA,; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
