Linda Ann Griffith was born March 18, 1944 to the union of Beth Anna “ Bessie ” and Allen Ray Griffith, Sr., in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana. She was the fourth of 7 siblings, and loved spending time with her siblings, cousins and other relatives in Texas and Louisiana. Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and was a dedicated choir member at the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bayou Chicot. She attended James Stevenson High School in Ville Platt, Louisiana, where her basketball skills and no nonsense personality were on full display. After high school, Linda moved to the Houston, Texas area where she joined her older brother, Grant, his wife Queen, and their family. For nearly five decades, Linda was a faithful member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Barrett Station, led by Pastor Tommy Johnson. Linda ’ s career highlights include quality patient care in nursing homes, facility services at Holiday Inn, and superb service at Wyatt ’ s Cafeteria. Although Linda made the choice to leave the workforce to be at home to raise her son, she continued to use her gift of hospitality to lend a helping hand and provide care for children in her community. The baddest Skip - Bo player at Barrett Station ’ s Riley Chambers Senior Center, Linda had a competitive streak that made her a force to be reckoned with. She enjoyed playing bingo (and winning), monthly birthday celebrations, and going on trips with the senior center. Linda also brought home the gold in the Senior Olympics softball games. In her moments of leisure, you could find Linda catching the CBS daytime lineup, or late night favorites like Wheel of Fortune, King of Queens and “ Raymond. ” Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Sheila and Ganyl, and her brothers Terry and Grant. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her son Kevin (Myia) Griffith, grandchildren Niara Elisabeth Griffith and Evan Rene Griffith, brother Allen “ Junior ” (Liz) Griffith, sister Debra Griffith, sister - in - love Queennester Franklin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

“ Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father ’ s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place

where I am going. ” John 14: 1 - 4 (NIV)
