Phillip Lee Owens, loving husband and father gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the age of eighty - two. After several months of declining health, Phillip passed peacefully with family by his side. Phillip, fondly known as “ Bulldog ”, was born to Roger and Mariah Owens on July 12, 1940 in Dew, Texas. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas with his family at a young age and graduated from I.M. Terrell High School. Phillip held many titles in his life. He worked as a crane operator at Texas Steele for thirty six years. While working at Texas Steele, he started a hauling and landscaping company, where he worked consistently. His motto was “ If you ’ re not working hard, you ’ re not working. ” Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Mariah Owens, brothers, Roger Owens Jr., G.T. Owens, and Leonard Owens; sisters, Willie Rogers and Lady Hester Hogan and ex - wife Lavern Owens of which they shared three children together. Phillip is survived by his wife Jessie Owens; five children, daughters; Olivia (husband Martin) Owens, Vanessa Downs, Veronica Owens, Cheryl Owens and son Verna (Paulette) Owens. He is also survived by his brother, Lindale (Flora) Owens; sisters; Marie (Fredrick) Duncan, Rosie Polk, and Phyllis King; nineteen grandchildren, eleven great - grandchildren, one great - great - grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
