Richard Clay Hill, a beloved member of the community, passed away on January 31st, 2024. He was born on June 15th, 1940 to the loving parents of Odie and Ollie (McDonald) Hill. He attended Burnett High School where he participated in band, track, and graduated with the class of 1960. Richard Hill attended Highland Baptist Church of Terrell, TX at an early age under the leadership of Reverend A. D. Hereford and later became a member of New Born Baptist Church in DeSoto, Texas, under the leadership of Reverend Roy L. Witherspoon. Richard dedicated many years of his life to his career at Thermo King where he worked with passion and dedication. His commitment to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Richard’s strong work ethic and unwavering devotion to his job were a true testament to his character. Outside of work and school Richard found great joy in spending time in his backyard. He had a fondness for gardening and took pride in cultivating beautiful flowers and plants. It was during these peaceful moments that Richard found solace and connected with nature. Additionally, family reunions held a special place in Richard’s heart as they provided an opportunity for him to gather with loved ones and cherished memories. Above all else, Richard considered his family to be his proudest accomplishment. His devotion to his loved ones knew no bounds, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Richard’s bright smile and genuine spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers: Morgan Hill II and Marvin Anthony Hill (AMP). Richard’s legacy lives through his wife Gladys Hill of 54 years who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by their childrens: Cheryl Hill of Terrell Tx, Janice Hill of Desoto Tx, Cynthia (Timothy) Handy of Desoto Tx, Elmeda Hill Ates of Lancaster Tx, Chiquita (Renee Hill) Hawthorne of Dallas Tx , Tina Rider - Swoope (Jerry) of Waxahachie Tx, Wilford Rider, Patricia Rider and Anthony Rider all of Dallas Tx, fifteen grandkids and fourteen great - grandkids, one sister: Audrey Hill Smith of Frisco Tx, one brother: Wayne Hill (Kathy) of Terrell Tx, two brother - in - laws: Billy Swindell (Sharon) and Marvin Jiles (Rose) of Tyler Tx Sister - in - law Ruby Frazier of Tyler Tx and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
